Job Spec:

We are seeking motivated Utility Arborists to support vegetation clearance and tree management works along overhead and underground electricity networks. The role involves maintaining safe clearances around power lines and associated infrastructure to ensure network reliability, public safety, and regulatory compliance.Working as part of an experienced arborist team, you will carry out tree cutting, pruning, felling, and vegetation management activities in accordance with industry safety standards and environmental guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist arborist teams with vegetation clearance around electricity distribution and transmission networks.

  • Carry out tree pruning, dismantling, felling, and brush clearance operations.

  • Operate chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders, and other arboriculture equipment safely.

  • Maintain statutory clearance distances from overhead power lines.

  • Support traffic management and site setup where required.

  • Conduct pre-work site risk assessments and follow safe systems of work.

  • Work in compliance with utility, environmental, and health & safety regulations.

  • Assist with emergency call-out and storm response activities when required.

  • Maintain tools, PPE, and company vehicles to operational standards.

  • Accurately complete job sheets and digital reporting systems.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in arboriculture, forestry, landscaping, or vegetation management.

  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Understanding of health & safety procedures.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions safely.

  • NPTC / City & Guilds Chainsaw qualifications:

    • CS30 / 31 (Maintenance & Cross Cutting / Felling Small Trees)

    • CS38 (Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue)

    • CS39 (Use of Chainsaw from Rope & Harness)

  • UA qualifications (Utility Arboriculture units).

  • First Aid +F certification.

  • Experience working near overhead electrical networks.

  • MEWP certification.

  • B+E or C1 driving licence.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor, physically demanding role.

  • Early starts and travel to various work sites.

  • Occasional overtime and emergency response work.

  • Working at height and near live electrical infrastructure.
